Position Title: LVN Supervisor - MUST be Bilingual in English and Spanish
Schedule/Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Compensation: $65,000 - $83,200 annually.
Location: Will be working at 3 different clinic locations located in Van Nuys, CA 91405, Van Nuys, CA 91401 and Canoga Park, CA 91303
Position Summary:
The LVN Supervisor plays a critical role in the efficient and effective operation of the clinic's back office, providing direct supervision and leadership to Medical Assistants (MAs) and LVNs. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the LVN Supervisor ensures optimal clinical workflow, maintains high standards of patient care, and facilitates a positive and productive work environment. This position involves direct patient care within the LVN scope of practice, staff training and development, quality improvement initiatives, and adherence to all relevant regulatory and organizational policies. The LVN Supervisor will also be responsible for ensuring proper vaccine administration and reporting, including familiarity with the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program. This role requires flexibility to travel and provide support across multiple clinic sites.
Responsibilities:
- Supervisory and Leadership:
- Oversee and supervise the performance and productivity of clinical staff (MAs/LVNs), ensuring efficient clinical workflow.
- Assign workloads, develop priorities, and establish work schedules to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
- Establish accountability and performance goals, provide coaching, feedback, recognition, training, and development.
- Conduct yearly performance appraisals and develop performance objectives.
- Assist the management team in recruiting and hiring qualified staff.
- Monitor staff compliance with dress code and badge policy.
- Develop and manage staff schedules, monthly assignments, and Accountable MA assignments.
- Lead daily huddle opportunities and actively participate in team and staff meetings.
- Clinical Duties and Patient Care:
- Perform nursing duties within the LVN scope of practice, including administering medications, treatments, and vaccines to children and adults.
- Provide therapeutic patient care in accordance with the plan of care developed by the patient and provider.
- Enhance patient visits by providing education on treatments, disease processes, health maintenance, and medication adherence.
- Conduct patient group education sessions on various health topics.
- Assist providers with exams and treatments as needed.
- Monitor patient conditions, observe signs and symptoms, and report findings to providers.
- Initiate appropriate emergency procedures and communicate with providers/MDs.
- Ensure correct documentation and recording of patient information in compliance with clinic policies, contract requirements, and government regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness of nursing areas and ensure proper functioning of equipment.
- Facilitate walk-in patient flow.
- Quality and Compliance:
- Comply with organizational policies and procedures.
- Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee.
- Prepare for facilities and programmatic audits.
- Monitor laboratory/equipment logs as required by program and funding guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to infection control procedures and universal precautions.
- Monitor and document infection control techniques of clinical staff.
- Understand data and reporting on vaccines, including the VFC program.
- Operational Management:
- Communicate regularly and effectively with MDs about patient flow issues and participate in improvement efforts.
- Monitor supplies and coordinate with the Office Manager for procurement of medical and office supplies.
- Support and participate in meetings and training seminars to enhance professional competence.
- Step in with Direct Patient Care(DPC) if needed.
- Travel between three clinic sites, ensuring consistent support and oversight.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license.
- Minimum one year of supervisory experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare facility.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; BA/BS or equivalent experience preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities, workflow, and multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and strong charting/documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures and universal precautions.
- Experience administering vaccines to children and adults.
- Experience with outpatient clinic operations, particularly in pediatrics, OB/GYN, or family practice.
- Familiarity with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) operations (preferred, but not required).
- Strong clerical/administrative and computer skills.
- Current California driver's license and legally required automobile insurance.
- Proof of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccinations, including recommended doses in the primary series AND booster dose when eligible.
- Knowledge of the Vaccine for Children (VFC) program.
