Job description

Medix is a Joint Commission Certified staffing company who helps some of the top Hospitals and Organizations in the Chicago area and Chicago suburbs hire for their Medical Assistant openings. This specific Bilingual Medical Assistant opening is an urgent request and we are looking to get people interviewing ASAP!

Job Description:

Float Facility: Will not do all of these Medical Assistant duties everyday, but must be comfortable doing any of them depending on the day.

  1. Under the supervision of licensed personnel, the Medical Assistant (MA) works in cooperation with other clinic or facility health care and administrative professionals to provide continuity of care to the patient
  2. The MA performs both clinical and administrative duties to support physician, nurses and administrative staff in the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model of care and Specialty Clinics
  3. Obtains medical history, vital signs, including but not limited to blood pressure, height and weight, BMI, head, neck and check circumference, pain and accurately and legibly documents the medical history
  4. Reviews patient or employee medical records for completeness
  5. May assist patients in completing relevant forms
  6. Prepares patient rooms for medical visits
  7. Maintains cleanliness and general appearance of exam rooms
  8. Cleans rooms after each patient visit and disposes of potentially infectious materials appropriately
  9. Assists with clerical and administrative duties such as answering phones, sorting medical charts, retrieving lab reports, scheduling appointments, billing and maintaining or obtaining current demographic and insurance information
  10. Completing compliance reports as requested
  11. Performs a variety of laboratory procedures, including but not limited to finger stick glucose, veni-puncture, EKG's, urine dipsticks, urine pregnancy test, throat cultures, point of care testing and I-stats
  12. Logs test and controls and accurately documents in medical records
  13. Assists physician with physical exams, minor surgical procedures and treatments, such as dressings and ear irrigations and administers oral medications and injections following physician order
  14. Accurately documents oral and injectable medical administration in the medical record
  15. Performs phlebotomy service and prepares specimens as directed
  16. Prepares, administers and documents immunizations on the client's medical record
  17. Administers first aid and other related procedures including removing and changing dressings, applying bandages, removing sutures, etc
  18. May be required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  19. Provides an accurate and complete medication list for patients
  20. Refills or orders medications for patients and secures provider signature or authorization for reordered or refilled medication
  21. Supports the provider staff with completing referrals for diagnostic testing and specialist following the providers order
  22. Receives, organizes and stocks clinical supplies
  23. Maintains inventory of medical supplies and providers for secure storage of medicine samples delivered by pharmaceutical representatives
  24. Checks medication samples for expiration dates and maintains dispensing records


Estimated pay rate:

Up to $21/ hour - Completely based upon experience

Qualifications:

Bilingual in English and Spanish Required

National Medical Assistant Certification Required

5+ years MA Experience OR 2+ years MA Experience with MA Diploma Required
