Psychiatric Technician

Location: Brooklyn Park, MN
Pay: $18 - $25/hr
Shifts: Straight Evening (3 pm - 11:30 pm) or Day/Evening Rotation (7 am - 3:30 pm & 3 pm - 11:30 pm)
Shift Differentials: Additional pay for evenings, weekends, and nights.
Schedule: Monday-Friday with rotating weekends/holidays.

Overview
We are seeking a Psychiatric Technician for our pediatric and adolescent inpatient hospital. Our facility provides vital care to patients aged 4-18.

We offer a therapeutic environment featuring group therapy and milieu therapy. Our Psychiatric Technicians are responsible for patient safety, behavioral management, and essential support tasks under the supervision of registered nurses. In addition to monitoring patient needs, psych techs play a crucial role in de-escalation and crisis prevention.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor child and adolescent patients and assist in managing psychiatric symptoms.
• Perform regular checks and assist patients with daily activities, including hygiene and meal routines.
• Use therapeutic techniques to maintain a safe and calm environment.
• Complete documentation accurately and timely.
• Facilitate psychoeducational groups and collaborate with the team to deliver patient-centered care.
• Ensure infection control and maintain a tidy care area.
• Work under RN supervision, handling assigned tasks and assisting with patient assessments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Bachelor's in a related field preferred.
• 6 months of experience with pediatric or adolescent mental health preferred.
• Strong communication and crisis management skills.
• Ability to de-escalate situations and work under pressure.
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, EHR systems).
