Job description

Overview:
Phlebotomist works directly with patients by obtaining blood specimens through venipunctures,
skin punctures, and other collection methods and prepares for transport and laboratory testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Collects specimens through proper handling protocols to ensure the viability of patient
  • specimens, as well as accurate clinical results.
  • Utilizes standard procedures to identify the patient, label, record all test tubes, log
  • procedures, and enter specimen data into the computer system.
  • Responds quickly, courteously, and professionally toward patients, clients, and co-
  • workers to provide exceptional customer service and adhere to the Company's values and business practices.
  • Handles administrative duties to receive, identify, accession, and process specimens
  • using established protocols to facilitate timely and accurate test performance.
  • Prepares specimens for transportation, including labeling vials accurately and matching
  • blood specimens to patients.
  • Understands laboratory requisitioning for appropriate billing documentation.
  • Keeps work area clean and maintains adequate laboratory supplies.
  • Maintains compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and laboratory safety
  • practices.


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Completion of accredited Phlebotomy Training program (Preferred) or Medical Assistant
  • Diploma.
  • One (1) year of experience in Phlebotomy and/or healthcare (Preferred).

Shift:

  • M-F, Rotating Saturday's
