Job Title: Pharmacist-In-Charge
Location: Sanford, FL
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

Our company is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Pharmacist in Charge to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with the geriatric population, a strong understanding of USP 797, and the ability to provide up-to-date information on new medications. A commitment to community service and excellence in pharmaceutical care is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and develop training programs for pharmacy staff regarding policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) meetings.
  • Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness, dosage, interactions, and administration routes.
  • Dispense medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling.
  • Monitor drug therapies and provide advisory interventions as needed.
  • Make therapy change recommendations to physicians and facility staff when appropriate.
  • Handle IV dosing and administration.
  • Collaborate with healthcare staff to provide clinical and technical support.
  • Document all communications with physicians, nurses, and healthcare team members.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, maintaining all necessary documentation.
  • Inform the Pharmacy Manager of any medication-related errors.
  • Assist facility/agency staff with best practices for procuring, maintaining, administering, and disposing of medications safely and effectively.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • PharmD or equivalent degree required.
  • Active and unrestricted state pharmacist license.
  • Experience working with the geriatric population preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of USP 797 guidelines.
  • Ability to assess medication appropriateness and provide expert recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.

Hours: Mon-Fri 7:30-3:30 (flexible start time) some weekend coverage as needed
