ER Patient Access Representative - Overnight Shift

Job description

Are you currently in the job market for a full time role? Medix is hiring multiple Patient Access Representatives to join the overnight shift team at a leading healthcare system's facility in Battle Creek. In this role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring seamless patient registration and access operations-contributing directly to both patient experience and the overall revenue cycle.

Job Overview:

  • This is a 12-hour overnight shift
    • (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 3 shifts per week)
  • Rotating weekends
  • Pay: $17.00/hr - $19.00/hr

Job Requirements:

  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • High School Diploma
  • Basic typing at 45 WPM, basic ten key, and computer skills within a Windows environment.
  • Prior experience in healthcare is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in fast-paced environments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Greet and register patients promptly and accurately.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations per payer guidelines.
  • Collect and post payments, ensuring accurate balancing and reconciliation.
  • Complete and process patient forms and physician orders; scan and index documentation.
  • Schedule appointments across multiple facilities and departments, communicating details clearly.
  • Manage assigned work queues and assist with financial counseling when needed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in all forms of communication.
  • Follow established workflows, protocols, and policies.
  • Take initiative to resolve issues and ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Other duties as assigned

Shift rotations follow a six-week cycle:

  • Week 1: Sunday / Thursday / Friday
  • Week 2: Monday / Tuesday / Thursday
  • Week 3: Monday / Wednesday / Saturday
  • Week 4: Sunday / Thursday / Friday
  • Week 5: Monday / Tuesday / Thursday
  • Week 6: Monday / Wednesday / Saturday
