Job description

Job Posting: Bilingual Patient Access Coordinator (PAC)

Location: South End, MA
Schedule: Monday - Friday

  • 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM
  • 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Overview:
We are seeking a Bilingual Patient Access Coordinator to join our team. The PAC will be responsible for checking in patients, verifying insurance, collecting demographic information, handling patient outreach, and collecting co-pays (cash and cards). In some departments, the PAC will also schedule patient appointments.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Check in patients efficiently while verifying insurance and collecting necessary demographic information.
  • Collect co-pays via cash and card transactions.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments as requested by the patient or provider.
  • Set up recalls for returning patients as instructed by the provider.
  • Answer phones in a polite and professional manner, identifying the department and introducing self.
  • Work closely with the clinical team to assist walk-in patients with symptoms, ensuring proper triage.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing in-basket messages.
  • Create telephone encounters for non-urgent patient concerns requiring clinical team follow-up.
  • Scrub schedules for outstanding arrived appointments and complete the checkout process.
  • Utilize specialized software for Dental and Optical departments.
  • Verify insurance in advance and on the same day.
  • Act as a mentor to new and existing registration staff.
  • Assist with training and orienting new staff to department policies, procedures, and workflow.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Bilingual (Required) - Must be fluent in English and [Specify Second Language, e.g., Spanish].
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and team members at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Epic, Workday, RTE, and MassHealth Portal.
  • Ability to multitask and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.
