Job description

Job Title: Medical Assistant

Key Responsibilities:
As a Certified Medical Assistant , you will play a vital role in supporting our patient-focused care team. Your key duties will include:

  • Patient Preparation: Ensure exam rooms are properly set up with the necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment. Confirm patient details, review medical histories, and take vital signs.
  • Provider Assistance: Work alongside healthcare providers to assist in patient care, including preparing lab specimens, administering medications, and conducting basic in-office lab tests.
  • Patient Education: Offer guidance on medications and dietary instructions, and respond to patient inquiries to help them understand their treatment plans.
  • Medical Record Management: Accurately document patient exams, treatments, and test results in the system.
  • Billing and Referrals: Assist with billing procedures, complete insurance forms, and manage patient referrals to specialists to ensure a seamless experience.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain office supplies, manage inventory, place orders, and confirm receipt of supplies.
  • Equipment Care: Ensure medical equipment is properly maintained, conduct preventive maintenance, and arrange for repairs when necessary.
  • Confidentiality: Protect patient information to maintain confidentiality and uphold patient trust in the clinic's operations.
  • Ongoing Learning: Stay informed on the latest healthcare practices by participating in training, reading industry publications, and engaging in professional organizations.
  • Communication: Maintain clear, professional communication with patients, colleagues, and providers.
  • Rooming Patients: Demonstrate proficiency in rooming patients, including obtaining medical histories, measuring vital signs, and documenting information in the EMR system.
  • Procedure Assistance: Assist providers during medical procedures, including minor surgeries and specialized exams.
  • Problem Solving: Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address clinical challenges effectively.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • National Medical Assistant Certification
  • 1-2 years MA experience preferred
  • EMR experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • General knowledge of office procedures and computer systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle a high-stress, busy work environment.
  • Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Team player who thrives under pressure.
  • Pleasant, professional, and articulate communication skills.

Job Type: Full time

Compensation: $18-24 hourly (depending on experience)

Hours: 40 hours/week - Mon-Fri 8am-5pm- 1 evening shift per week 1pm-9pm

Location: Cranford, NJ 07016

Benefits: In order to be eligible for health benefits, you must be employed for 30 days and must average 30 hours per week over your first four weeks on assignment. If you become eligible and take action to enroll, you will be covered no earlier than 60 days into your assignment, depending on plan selection(s).
