Job description

Location: Sewell and Washington Township, NJ
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our Employee and Student Health teams. In this role, you will split your time between clinical and clerical duties, providing essential support to physicians and helping to maintain the smooth functioning of the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical:

    • Provide medical assistance to physicians during patient examinations and treatments.
    • Take patient histories, chief complaints, vital signs (weight, blood pressure, pulse).
    • Prepare and maintain patient charts, and assist physicians with patient care.
    • Draw up medications for injections and prepare exam rooms for patient visits.
    • Handle patient calls, relay messages through the EMR system, and document all patient interactions.
    • Maintain medical waste logs and ensure compliance with current regulations.
    • Stock exam rooms and keep medical equipment clean and well-maintained.
    • Order injectables and vaccines as needed.
  • Clerical:

    • Check in patients using the EPIC system, verifying demographics, insurance, and collecting copays.
    • Schedule office visits and verify insurance benefits and precertification.
    • Process new patient charts and ensure all necessary documentation is included.
    • Maintain and refer to capitation lists for various insurers, manage office inventory, and handle mail.
    • Prepare financial deposits for patient visits.
    • Perform light typing and assist with other clerical duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • National Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA).
  • Proficient in EPIC system for scheduling, patient information management, and documentation.
  • Strong clinical and clerical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel between Sewell and Washington Township.
