Job description

Job Title: Radiology Authorization Coordinator (9-Month Contract, potential to transition to a permanent role as needed)

Location: Kalamazoo, MI

Position is onsite for training and then transitions to a remote position

Pay: $18-21/hr

Contract through Medix - Full benefits available for full time contractors

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 4:30

Position Overview: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Radiology Authorization Coordinator to join our team on a 9-month contract basis. The Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating the authorization process for radiology services with insurance companies, ensuring timely approvals and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to obtain pre-authorization for radiology procedures and services.
  • Review patient medical records and diagnostic information to determine the necessity and appropriateness of requested radiology services.
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits for radiology procedures, including obtaining prior authorization when required.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to resolve any authorization-related issues or discrepancies, advocating for patients when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of authorization requests, approvals, and denials.
  • Coordinate with billing and coding staff to ensure accurate documentation and billing for authorized radiology services.
  • Stay informed about changes in insurance regulations and policies related to radiology authorization processes.
  • Provide support and guidance to healthcare providers and staff on insurance authorization requirements and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, medical billing, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in radiology authorization, medical billing, or healthcare administration.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic procedures, and insurance billing practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance company representatives.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duration: 9 months, with the possibility of extension based on business needs. The position will begin with on-site training before transitioning to remote work.
