Phlebotomist

The Phlebotomist will be a part of a larger team, performing preoperative blood draws and
back lab testing.

Responsibilities:
● Venipuncture and specimen collections performed accurately and timely
● Follow Venipuncture standard of work (SOW) at all times
● Follow Processing standard of work (SOW) at all times, making positive identification
of all patient specimens
● Give proper patient collection instructions i.e. urine
● Instruct patients in post phlebotomy care
● Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by complying with safety regulations
● Properly dispose of biohazardous materials
● Obtain specimens for microbiology testing
● Order sufficient supplies to perform the workload and to rotate stock and prevent the
use of outdated supplies
● Greet and register patients in a polite and professional manner
● Problem solve efficiently and in a timely manner
● Locate missing lab orders and/or specimens
● Competent and efficient phone skills

Required Skills/Qualifications:
● 6+ months of phlebotomy experience
● Certified MA-P through Washington State Department of Health
● Strong patient care experience

Additional Skills:
● Knowledge of invasive procedures for capillary, venous blood withdrawal
● Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions
● Knowledge of diagnostic electrocardiography testing
● Professional phone demeanor
● Ability to work well in a team environment, proactive in assisting team members

Pay:
$20-27 per hour, depending on experience.

Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8 AM - 5 PM

Contract Length:
3 months. Opportunity to convert to permanent hire after satisfactory completion of
contract.
