Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Pharmacy Technician Trainee you will…

  • Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, learn and apply company standard operating procedures (SOP) to perform supporting compounding tasks, participate in dosage form training, and obtain in depth knowledge (validation) in the preparation and handling of at least 1 dosage compounding form following established protocols and compounding techniques.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, state law, and federal law. Learn and apply USP standards to prepare, handle, and dispose of materials including hazardous waste.
  • Follow all requirements for personal hygiene and garbing, including proper hand hygiene and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Prepare nonsterile compounded preparations in adherence to the master formula record and each individual compounding record.
  • Use good compounding practices to avoid cross contamination, and to ensure correct potency and quality of each preparation.
  • Clean and sanitize the compounding area, equipment, and tools in accordance with regulations and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain strict documentation and record-keeping of compounded medications, ingredients, lot numbers, and expiration dates.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of compounding supplies, including chemicals, solutions, and equipment, and place orders as needed.
  • Participate in training programs, continuing education, and professional development opportunities to stay updated on compounding techniques, regulations, and industry advancements.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of compounding orders.
  • Maintain a strong track record of reliability and punctuality.
  • Cross train in multiple departments, as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A technician trainee license/registration is acceptable
  • Must have, or obtain within 6 months of hire, the pharmacy technician national certification (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

Nice to Have Skills

  • 6 months plus experience preferred in pharmacy.
  • Experience as a compounding Pharmacy Technician, with a focus on non-sterile compounding, preferred but not required.
  • Current pharmacy technician license or registration through the State Board of Pharmacy

Soft Skill/Attribute Requirements

  • Strong work ethic

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic office equipment such as: "EMR (electronic medical record system), Microsoft Excel computer, internet, email, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Work Environment: This position is going to be FULLY ONSITE.
