Position: Pharmacy Technician
Location: Woodway, TX 76712
Pay: $18-25/hr depending on experience
Schedule: 8 hr shift within the pharmacy's operating hours of 8a-7p M-F with some weekend coverage.
Requirements:
- Current registration as a pharmacy technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Dispenses medication in appropriate compliance packaging or other containers as appropriate. Adheres to standard operating procedures and follows equipment safety instructions.
- Prepares accurately and completely, all medications and/or supplies necessary to fill physician orders using the appropriate method of fill with the highest degree of accuracy in a timely manner, at the expected volume for a pharmacist to inspect (PV2).
- Prepare simple compounds after the Pharmacist has verified calculations.
- Identifies the need to reorder medications and/or supplies based on pharmacy inventory procedures.
- Performs basic pharmacy computer skills including, generating labels, replacement labels, packing lists and standard reports necessary to perform job function. Enter refill orders.
- Prepares emergency kits and automated medication cabinet medications.
- Performs expiration dating review of all medications on a scheduled basis or at each re-stocking period. Segregates expired medications from active inventory and provide the pharmacist with a list of expiring medications.
- Pre-packs medication in compliance packaging, puts away drug and supply orders and stages deliveries.
- Answers telephone when needed. Effectively routes callers to the appropriate staff member. May document refill orders.
- Maintains pharmacy-related equipment and equipment rental logs.
- Stages orders for delivery using prescription/tote verification process. Packs totes for couriers to pick up.
- Remove and sort delivery bags or totes and equipment from return area inside pharmacy. Ensure proper dispensation of returned medication items.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the specific pharmacy area/functions hired to work in.
- Keeps workstation neat, clean, and organized.
- Assists as scheduled or as needed, in keeping pharmacy clean and well organized (e.g., trash removal, daily cleaning, etc.). Refill bottles, vials, cards, bags, and other supplies.
- Accepts any task legitimately requested to meet the needs of the customer or to ensure an orderly operation. Cross-operations and cross-departmental activity is routinely expected.
