Job description

Medix is currently hiring fully remote Certified Surgical Coders to partner with one of the top-ranked children's hospitals in the nation.

Job Summary:

Medix is excited to collaborate with a leading national children's hospital to find skilled Certified Medical Coders for a remote opportunity. This role offers the chance to work with a diverse range of specialties, including Hematology/Oncology, Pediatric Hospital Medicine, Radiology, and more. As a key member of the team, you will review medical records, assign accurate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services, and ensure compliance with the highest industry standards. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional quality, efficiency, and productivity in coding

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign accurate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services across specialties, including Hematology, GI, Pediatrics, and others.
  • Manage work queues, ensuring timely and accurate coding of charges.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to prioritize coding tasks based on high-dollar accounts and service types.
  • Maintain a target of 95% accuracy, and meet productivity standards (18 E&M charts/hour, 12 surgery charges/hour).

Qualifications:

  • CPC, RHIT, or AAPC Certification required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in outpatient/pro-fee/PB/surgical coding, with at least 2 years of recent and consistent specialty experience.
  • Proficiency in Epic EMR and experience with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
  • Strong ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet KPIs.
  • Must have own computer and access to Teams/Samantic VIP via phone.

Schedule: flexible hours depending on time zone

Preferred:

  • Experience in pediatrics or children's hospitals.
