Job Description

Under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) / Nursing Assistant will assist patients with tasks they are unable to perform independently, including mobilization, walking, bathing, eating, and communication. This role involves direct patient care, safety monitoring, and ensuring a therapeutic environment for all patients.


Responsibilities/ Job Duties:

  • Collect specimens, draw blood, monitor blood glucose levels, and obtain EKGs.
  • Take vital signs and document intake/output data.
  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
  • Perform safety rounds and provide constant patient observation.
  • Respond to patient call bells and engage patients in meaningful interaction and activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients.
  • Answer phones, conduct property and environment searches.
  • Order, maintain, and put away supplies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required. PCT certification preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a nursing assistant role in a hospital, nursing home, or ambulatory setting is preferred.
  • Skills: Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients, respond to emergencies, use stairs in emergent situations, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
