Job description

PACU Registered Nurse
Orthopedic Surgery Center
McLean, VA 22102
Typical Pay Range: $50-53/hr
Hours: 4x10s 1 rotating day off Monday-Friday; no weekends, on call, or holidays; Typical start time between 6a-8a; schedule known 6-8 weeks in advance


RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-op/post-op responsibilities include assessing patient needs and medical history to adult and pediatric patients.
Performs diagnostic procedures and administers treatments as directed.
Conducts patient education and ensures understanding of healthcare processes.
Proficient in intravenous therapy, specimen collection, and data entry.
Initiate cardiac monitoring. Evaluate existing drainage systems.
Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and intervene using physician orders, ACLS Algorithm.
Monitor hemodynamic status of patient and interpret results.
Assess/reassess pain utilizing appropriate multi-modal pain management therapies.
Assist anesthesiologist in administering nerve blocks.
Provides post-operative care to patient post anesthesia.

Qualifications
ASN (Associates in Nursing)
Strong IV experience
Pre-OP - PACU experience (2 years)
BLS, ACLS and PALS required
