Job description

The Medical Laboratory Technician tests all types of laboratory specimens for all age groups from neonates to geriatric patients; reviews and reports lab results; performs operational duties, maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.

Daily Duties: preform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical duties, specimen prep, specimen troubleshooting, reagent prep, inventory management, equipment upkeep, quality control

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Associates Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical laboratory technicians, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489. The above meets required criteria as defined by CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing (42 CFR 493.1489, Jan. 24, 2003

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years as a medical laboratory technician.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Certified (registered) or registry-eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency, e.g. ASCP, HHS, AMT. Registry eligible should obtain certification within 1 year from date of hire. Once certified, no annual renewals are required.

Pay: $20.34-$31.53, BASED ON EXPERIENCE

    • exp. an employee with 20 years of experience got $30
    • exp. an employee with 2 years of experience got $21-$22
