Job description

Medix is seeking a Medical Office Assistant - Front Desk Associate for a direct hire position within a retina clinic in Chapel Hill, NC. This is a great opportunity to work in a highly-specialized retina practice and the fastest-growing tech center in the area!

Responsibilities/ Job Duties:

  • Greet and register patients according to established protocols
  • Assist patients to complete all forms and documentation including medical insurance
  • Ensure patient information is accurate including billing information
  • Inform patients of medical office procedures and policy
  • Ensuring availability of treatment information by retrieving and updating patient records
  • Move patients through appointments as scheduled
  • Answer incoming calls and assist with inquiries
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Collect payments
  • Consistent review of physician schedules, with minimal reschedules
  • Obtain external medical reports and maintain patient records as required by medical professionals
  • Respond and comply with requests for information
  • Register patients with copay assistance foundations
  • Maintain a clean and neat reception area
  • Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal customer service skills, including effective listening, clear verbal and written communication, problem solving skills
  • Reliable transportation to travel to practice locations - not just 1 location.
  • Ability to master multiple software systems to input and retrieve data
  • Ability to master ophthalmology and retina terminology
  • Bilingual - Spanish preferred

Schedule/ Shift:

  • M-F 8a-5p
