Job description

Job Title: Community Health Medical Assistant
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5pm
Location: South End


Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Health Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers and ensure efficient, patient-centered care. The role focuses on supporting community health initiatives and improving access to quality healthcare for underserved populations.


Key Responsibilities:



Clinical Duties:

  • Assist providers with patient care, including vital signs, medical history intake, and room preparation.
  • Perform routine clinical procedures such as blood draws, vaccinations, wound care, and point-of-care testing under supervision.
  • Educate patients on health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic condition management.
  • Support patients in navigating community resources and social services.


Administrative Duties:

  • Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Coordinate with providers and community health workers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist with referrals to specialists and community programs as needed.


Community Outreach:

  • Participate in community health events, health screenings, and educational programs.
  • Collaborate with local organizations to promote wellness and healthcare access.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and healthcare teams to address barriers to care.

Qualifications:



Education & Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA)
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.


Experience:

  • Previous experience in a clinical or community health setting is preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations is highly desirable.


Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with patient care.
