Job description

Title: Medical Assistant
Hours: 8am - 4:30pm or 7:30am - 4pm
Pay Range: $24-25/hr

Job Responsibilities
  • No office manager on site - run by the physicians
  • Newer center that is performing unique minimally invasive procedures
  • Cross trained to scrub
We are looking for strong clinical MA's that are open to being cross trained to scrub in the Interventional Radiology center. MAs perform minimally invasive urologic / urogynecology procedures such as:
  • Prostate artery embolization (PAE) for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
  • Varicocele embolization
  • Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE)
  • Ovarian vein embolization for the treatment of pelvic congestion syndrome
  • Rectal artery embolization for the treatment of hemorrhoids
  • Kidney tumor or angiomyolipoma (AML) embolization
  • Pre-op:
    • Escort patients to preparation area and assist with pre-procedure preparations
    • Initiate IVs and complete three screening questionnaires
    • Monitor patient condition before the procedure, promptly reporting any vital changes to nursing staff or physician
  • Sedation Transfer from Procedure Room to Bay:
    • Document transfer with nurse and Medical Assistant (MA) signatures
    • Inform patient's family of status and confirm pickup time
    • Arrange transport if necessary and assist patient to vehicle at discharge
    • Monitor patient post-op for two hours, recording vitals and notifying nurse of any changes
    • Manage and assess patient's groin site for bleeding or hematoma, applying pressure if needed
  • Discharge patient, review discharge instructions, and address any queries
  • Record inventory usage in the inventory management system
  • Transport soiled linens to designated areas and replenish linens
  • Assist with unpacking and storing delivered inventory
  • Aid in setting up and turning over procedure rooms for subsequent patients
  • Prepare patient rooms for the next appointment
  • Monitor hazardous material disposal box
  • Support front desk with patient chart preparation, scheduling, and phone inquiries as required
Job Requirements
  • 1+ year(s) recent medical assisting experience
  • Medical assisting diploma (required)
  • National Certification (highly preferred)
  • Reliable
  • Team player
