Medical Assistant (Back Office)

Medix is looking to hire 2 Back Office Medical Assistants to join a non-profit organization in Long Beach, CA 90813.

Responsibilities:

• The Medical Assistant will provide patient care services under the direction of a licensed health care provider inclusive of culturally appropriate HIV/STD services to the patients.
• Submitting and tracking referrals, taking vital signs, preparing examining rooms, administering medications as ordered by a licensed healthcare provider.
• Performing phlebotomy and accurately labeling and storing the specimens collected.
• Greeting and registering patients when needed; assists them with completion of necessary forms.
• Answering telephones, scheduling and confirming appointments.
• Provide pre/post test client-centered HIV counseling.

• Conduct HIV/STD risk assessments.
• Prepares treatment rooms, ensuring that rooms are neat and clean, and stocked with the necessary supplies and equipment for patient examination.
• Interviews patients to obtain basic medical information and history; measures and records vital signs, height, weight and body mass index (BMI); prepares medical records for provider review.
• Assists physicians and nurses in examining and treating patients.
• Other duties to support the business needs.

Requirements / Experience

• Medical Assistant diploma/ Certificate
• At least 1 year of Clinical Back office experience
• Strong blood drawing skills
• BLS and CRP Cert

Preferred Qualifications:

• Spanish bilingual (preferred)
• Prior non-profit/ public health experience
• STD testing experience

Schedule:

• Monday- Friday 8:00- 5:00 pm

Pay:

$19-22/hr Based on Experience
