Job description

  • Monitor and review outstanding insurance claims to identify unpaid or underpaid claims.
  • Contact insurance companies to inquire about the status of unpaid claims and to expedite processing.
  • Resubmit corrected claims or additional documentation as needed to facilitate payment.
  • Review claim denials and partial payments to determine the reason for denial or underpayment.
  • Prepare and submit appeals for denied claims, providing necessary documentation and following up until resolution.
  • Communicate with patients regarding the status of their insurance claims and any actions required on their part.
  • Address patient inquiries about billing, insurance coverage, and claim statuses.
  • Keep detailed records of all insurance follow-up activities, including calls made, responses received, and actions taken.
  • Ensure that all follow-up actions are accurately documented in the electronic health record systems.
  • Coordinate with billing and coding staff to ensure that claims are accurate and complete before submission.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with insurance company representatives to facilitate claim resolution.
  • Adhere to all healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and maintain patient confidentiality throughout the claims follow-up process.
  • Keep up to date with changes in insurance policies, billing codes, and healthcare laws to ensure compliance and optimize the follow-up process.
