Animal Care Technician

About the Job

  • Adhere to the prescribed safety and study protocols outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), and relevant governmental regulations. Follow safety and health practices, including the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to barrier requirements when necessary.
  • Recognize and assess animal behavior and health status, promptly reporting any observations to the appropriate channels. Undertake routine animal husbandry activities, including cleaning, feeding, sanitation, and enrichment. Regularly operate, maintain, and perform tasks related to equipment, such as cage washers, autoclaves, and cage movement systems.
  • Monitor and report any deviations or irregularities in animal room conditions, encompassing room temperature, humidity, lighting, ventilation, and pest control. Conduct general facility cleaning, stocking, and inventory management. Prepare, sanitize, and address any repairs needed in rooms.
  • Manage the receipt and distribution of animals for isolation, study assignments, or consolidation purposes. Participate in training programs to enhance knowledge and expertise in laboratory animal science.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Physical labor position, employees required to pass a 55 lbs push pull lift test.

Schedule:

  • Training: Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm (training is ~2 months)
  • After Training: Tuesday-Saturday, 7am- 3:30pm OR Sunday-Thursday, 7am- 3:30 pm
