Job description

Job Title: Front Desk Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Warmly greet all patients and office guests upon arrival
  • Efficiently handle patient check-in and check-out processes
  • Accurately enter and verify patient demographics and insurance information
  • Educate patients about insurance coverage and benefits
  • Ensure completion and filing of necessary paperwork, including insurance forms and authorizations
  • Obtain or create electronic medical record numbers and enter them into our system
  • Direct patients to radiology as needed
  • Address patient balances and set up payment plans when necessary
  • Collect and enter patient payments accurately
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments as required
  • Maintain records of cancelled or rescheduled appointments
  • Review and update patient eligibility
  • Prepare and submit daily payment collection reports
  • Balance daily receipts and reconcile with reports
  • Accept and process patient disability forms and medical records requests
  • Receive and forward lab results from external facilities to clinical staff
  • Manage incoming deliveries and ensure proper handling
  • Assist patients and family members with any inquiries or requests
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive work atmosphere at all times
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the office manager

Qualifications:

  • Excellent telephone etiquette and strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Proficiency in computer literacy, including practice management software, EMR, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior customer service experience (non-healthcare-related)
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
