Job description

Looking for a CNC Set-Up Machinist / Programmer with prior experience. This experience would include 5-Axis, vertical mills, and being comfortable with tight tolerances. If you have programming experience, that is a plus. It would be a direct hire position roughly 45 hours a week. Time and half is paid for anything over 40 hours.

In this role, you will be responsible for configuring and managing the operation of precision CNC machines. Your expertise will ensure that setups are executed efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with customer requirements. You will handle complex setups, support junior machinists, and work closely with engineering and quality teams to optimize manufacturing processes.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the setup of CNC milling machines for intricate components with precise tolerances.
  • Improve and streamline setup procedures to enhance efficiency, minimize downtime, and boost machine utilization.
  • Analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining requirements and anticipate potential issues.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and cutting methods to optimize machining performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address challenges related to design, machining, and material handling.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex machine and process issues to ensure smooth operations.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of machined parts and provide feedback to maintain quality standards.
  • Mentor and train junior machinists in setup techniques, troubleshooting, and best practices.

Schedule:

  • M-F 7am-4pm 45 hours/week

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or CNC machining certification preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years in CNC machining, with significant experience in setup, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in CNC operations, G-code programming, tooling, and fixture setup.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-axis machining and precision manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience training and guiding machinists.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical documentation and CAD models.
  • Proficiency in using advanced measuring tools such as CMMs and laser micrometers for quality control.
  • Solid understanding of machining processes, quality assurance, and lean manufacturing
