Medical Assistant / Patient Care Associate
Position Type: Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire (40 hours/week)
Location: St. Louis, MO (On-site)
Shift/Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Standard shift ends around 4:30 PM – 5:00 PM; flexibility to stay past 5:00 PM on high-volume days is required)
Pay Range: $21.00 – $25.00 / hour (commensurate with experience and certification status)
Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable, adaptable, and team-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) or Patient Care Associate (PCA) to join a dynamic multi-specialty outpatient healthcare facility. In this role, you will work closely alongside providers, back-office staff, medical students, and fellows in a fast-paced environment caring for a diverse patient population, including renal transplant patients.

Note: Candidates who are uncertified may start as a Patient Care Associate (PCA) and will receive an immediate promotion and a 5% pay increase upon earning their Medical Assistant certification.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties

Patient Flow & Care: Room and prepare approximately 30 patients per day (around 15 in the morning and 15 in the afternoon) across a multi-specialty practice setting.

Clinical & Diagnostic Testing: Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., urine dipstick testing) and promptly recognize/report abnormal results, particularly for high-acuity patients such as renal transplant patients.

Provider & Team Collaboration: Partner directly with healthcare providers, clinical back-office staff, residents, and fellows to deliver coordinated patient care.

Cross-Specialty Support: Maintain flexibility to support and train across various specialty departments as needed.

EHR Documentation: Efficiently record vital signs, medical history, and clinical data into the Electronic Health Record system.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Basic Life Support (BLS): Valid Healthcare Provider BLS certification required prior to day one.

Certification (for Medical Assistant designation):

Active Medical Assistant (MA) certification obtained through an in-person proctored exam from an accredited body (NHA, AAMA, or AMT). (Online proctored credentials are not accepted).

Entry-level / newly certified MAs are welcome to apply!

For Uncertified Candidates (Patient Care Associate path): Candidates actively working toward certification are eligible for hire as a PCA and will transition to MA status upon credential completion.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:

Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR), specifically Epic, is highly preferred.
