Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join their rapidly growing Medicare Advantage value-based care model. This role primarily involves serving the senior population in a primary care setting, focusing on building strong patient relationships and providing comprehensive support alongside physicians, while managing a busy, lean clinic environment, and adapting to evolving processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct intake with patients, including measuring and recording vital signs, patient interviews, and medical histories.
- Perform examinations and routine screenings.
- Perform phlebotomy; must be strong in this skill.
- Critically listen and engage with patients, reporting all findings to the Primary Care Provider (PCP).
- Process patient phone messages, return calls, and relay information to patients and physicians.
- Change patient dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform other first aid procedures.
- Utilize CPR skills when necessary.
- Provide health coaching to patients.
- Room members, take vitals, perform EKGs, and administer injections.
- Perform diabetic retinopathy screenings (training can be provided).
- Assist with administrative work and quality measures.
- Close FOCS (Focus on Care Gaps).
- Perform screenings (e.g., PHQ-9 depression screenings).
- Complete stat referrals if urgent.
Qualifications
- Picture of MA Diploma required.
- 1 year of Medical Assistant (MA) experience.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to work with diverse populations including staff, providers, members, family members, insurance carriers, vendors, and market leadership.
- 6+ months of phlebotomy experience is highly desired.
- EClinicalWorks (ECW) or similar Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
- Experience working with the elderly patient population (preferred).
- Value Based Care Experience (preferred).
Experience
- 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
- 6+ months of phlebotomy experience is highly desired.
Skills
- Technical Skills: Proficient in phlebotomy, EClinicalWorks or similar EMR experience, Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
- Soft Skills: Adaptability, team player, willingness to assist when needed, eagerness to learn and embrace new approaches, punctual.
Education
- Medical Assistant Diploma is required.
Additional Requirements
- Must be comfortable adapting to a growing organization where training and processes can be updated frequently.
- Willingness to help out when needed in a busy and lean clinic environment, even if it's not "their patient."
- Must be punctual; daily meetings start promptly at 8:00 AM.
