Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Urgent Care Registered Nurse to join a high-volume, high-stress orthopedic urgent care environment, assisting with approximately 85 patients per day across a diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients based on their acuity and coordinating the patient care with the assistance of the staffing providers.
- Patient and family education; acting as a patient advocate.
- Electronic order entry and documentation of all necessary treatments given.
- Scanning records into the patients EHR.
- Faxing orders for continued care, such as PT/MRI/CT/US orders.
- Observe, record and report patient conditions and respond according to nursing standards.
- Answer any potential phone calls and document in the consultation notes.
- Assisting providers with patient care, including but not limited to splinting, DME application, wound management, etc.
- Phlebotomy/processing of laboratory samples.
- Cleaning patient rooms and other areas of the unit.
- Maintaining, set up, and cleaning unit equipment.
- Document any procedures, supplies needed and used during the encounter.
- Checking x-rays, labs, cultures etc., and the need for follow up with patients seen in the urgent care.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Strong background in either orthopedics or fast-paced urgent care.
- BLS certification.
- Direct orthopedic urgent care experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to adapt quickly and perform effectively in a new environment.
Experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience.
Skills
- Strong background in orthopedics or fast-paced urgent care.
- Ability to hit the ground running without requiring extensive operational orientation.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Additional Requirements
- Total Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week.
- Schedule Options:
- Weekday: Three 12-hour shifts.
- Weekend: Two 12-hour shifts plus two 6-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday.
- Weekend Rotation: Work 1 out of every 4 weekends.
- This is a 6-week contract with potential for extension and an opportunity to convert to a permanent position.
