Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Patient Access Representative to work in the Emergency Room, supporting patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, payment processing, and other front-end patient access needs in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Greets and/or registers patients accurately and efficiently.

Verifies insurance eligibility using online systems and follows payer-specific guidelines.

Provides and completes required patient forms.

Collects and enters payments while following required balancing procedures.
-
Analyzes, interprets, and enters physician orders.
-
Scans and indexes forms.
-
Schedules and communicates appointment information accurately and efficiently.
-
Verifies insurance for scheduled and urgent/emergent patients and obtains authorization based on payer requirements.

Accurately completes assigned work queues.

Assists with financial counseling needs, price estimates, and payment arrangements.

Maintains confidentiality in verbal, written, and electronic communication.

Follows established processes, protocols, and workflows.

Takes initiative to resolve problems and meet patient needs.

Provides exceptional customer service in a high-volume healthcare environment.
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED.
-
Previous customer service experience.

Ability to type at least 45 words per minute.

Basic computer and Windows environment skills.

Payment processing experience.
-
Healthcare experience preferred, not required.

Schedule Options
Full-Time Overnight - Kalamazoo, MI:
-
7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Three 12-hour shifts per week

Rotating schedule with no set days

Schedule provided approximately one month in advance

One weekend per quarter of standby/on-call coverage

Standby pay of $3/hour; time-and-a-half if called in

Two scheduled holidays per year
Part-Time Day – Battle Creek, MI:

9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

56 hours every two weeks

Opportunity to pick up additional hours, with the potential to work up to 40 hours per week

Rotating schedule:

Weeks 1, 3, 5: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday

Weeks 2, 4, 6: Sunday, Thursday, Friday
