Job Summary

Our client is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join their team. The primary responsibilities include assisting physicians with procedures, performing clinical tasks, and managing administrative duties within a urological practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
• Record medical histories, current medications, allergies, and chief complaints.
• Prepare patients for examinations and urological procedures.
• Assist physicians during office procedures such as cystoscopies, vasectomies, prostate biopsies, and catheter insertions and removals.
• Perform urine dipstick testing and collect urine specimens.
• Obtain blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• Administer injections and medications as directed by the provider.
• Provide catheter care education and instruction on collection devices.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and post-procedure care.
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain examination rooms and equipment.
• Monitor inventory and stock medical supplies.
• Schedule patient appointments, procedures, and follow-up visits.
• Verify insurance information and obtain prior authorizations when needed.
• Answer patient phone calls and respond to portal messages.
• Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Coordinate referrals, imaging studies, and laboratory testing.
• Process prescription refill requests under provider supervision.
• Assist with medical records requests and documentation.

Skills

• Knowledge of urological terminology and conditions.
• Experience with EMR systems.
• Strong patient communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Familiarity with specimen collection and laboratory procedures.
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
