Job Summary
The Healthcare Patient Greeter serves as the welcoming face and first point of contact for patients and visitors entering our medical facility. Operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, the Greeter is key to delivering a compassionate, efficient, and smooth arrival experience. This role focuses on warmly welcoming individuals, assisting patients with digital tablet self-check-in, directing patient flow, and ensuring safety and comfort throughout the waiting area.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet every patient, visitor, and staff member upon arrival, establishing a welcoming, supportive, and professional environment.
- Proactively guide and assist patients through the digital tablet self-check-in process, helping troubleshoot basic technical issues or assisting individuals unfamiliar with touchscreen devices.
- Actively monitor and manage lobby and waiting room foot traffic to prevent congestion, reduce patient wait-time confusion, and optimize clinical throughput.
- Provide accurate directions and assistance to departments, clinics, elevators, restrooms, and amenities within the facility.
- Assist mobility-impaired patients by offering wheelchair assistance or escorting them to their destination when needed.
- Serve as a communication bridge between patients and front-desk/clinical registration staff, escalating urgent concerns or special needs promptly.
- Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe reception environment, monitoring for potential hazards or safety concerns.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, hospitality, or related fields preferred.
- Proficiency with digital tablets (iOS/Android), basic touchscreen technology, and willingness to learn healthcare check-in software.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication, and active listening skills with strong empathy and patience.
- Bilingual capabilities (e.g., English/Spanish) are highly desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of customer service, hospitality, front-desk, or healthcare patient-facing experience preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain active on your feet for prolonged periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).
- Ability to push wheelchairs and assist patients with light physical transfers or movement as necessary.
- Ability to stay calm, clear-headed, and courteous in a high-volume, dynamic healthcare setting.
