Ultrasound Technologist

Length of Assignment: 13-week initial contract with planned extensions up to 4–6 months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch), standard major holidays off
State License Needed: Texas (ARDMS required)
Pay: $2,200 weekly gross for travelers, $48.50/hr for local talent
Position Overview
Medix is seeking a skilled and independent Ultrasound Technologist for a travel contract assignment supporting an outpatient clinical facility in Houston, TX. In this role, you will provide critical coverage within a fast-paced, standalone outpatient setting, delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging for predominantly adult female patients.
We are looking for an experienced clinician who thrives in an autonomous environment, managing patient check-ins and check-outs while independently operating high-end ultrasound equipment.
Key Responsibilities

Perform independent diagnostic ultrasound examinations across key clinical areas, including Breast, Abdominal, Vascular, and 1st-Trimester OB-GYN scans.

Operating the Philips EPIQ 7G ultrasound system to produce high-resolution diagnostic images.

Manage high-volume patient workflows (averaging 7 to 10 scans per day) in a standalone outpatient setting.

Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, including probe disinfection using the Trophon system.

Handle basic administrative tasks related to patient care, including patient check-in and check-out procedures within the EMR (Epic).

Maintain professional compassionate patient care while managing a predominantly adult female patient demographic.
Required Qualifications

Certification: Active ARDMS certification is required.

Basic Life Support: Active BLS certification is required.

Experience: Senior-level clinical experience with proven capability to work completely independently without on-site supervision.

Clinical Expertise: Demonstrated competence in Breast, Abdomen, Vascular, and 1st-Trimester OB-GYN ultrasound applications.

Systems: Familiarity with Epic EMR systems.
Preferred Qualifications

Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential.

Advanced background in specialized vascular and OB-GYN imaging.

Experience operating Philips EPIQ series ultrasound machinery and Trophon disinfection systems.
