Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Coder responsible for the accurate assignment of CPT/HCPCS, ICD10, and appropriate modifiers from medical record documentation. The role involves auditing E&M services, training and educating providers and staff on coding issues, and contributing to coding compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign accurate CPT/HCPCS, ICD10, and modifiers for both outpatient and inpatient professional encounters.
- Assist in auditing E&M services against medical record documentation.
- Aid in training and educating providers and staff on coding issues.
- Contribute to coding compliance activities.
- Abstract pertinent information into databases for reimbursement, management, reporting, and medical staff credentialing.
- Coordinate the billing process with medical staff and other departments.
- Maintain knowledge and adapt to process improvements.
- Follow guidelines and standards for day surgery, wound care, observation, emergency room, and inpatient coding.
- Interact with Coder III for appropriate DRG code assignment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist – Physician (CCS-P).
- Surgical coding experience in Trauma and/or General Surgery.
- A minimum of 2 years of recent profee coding experience.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in professional coding.

- Experience with Epic is preferred.
Education
- High school Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or Associate degree in Health Information Management.
Additional Requirements
- Fully remote position, excluding certain states.
- Flexible work schedule, 40 hours per week.
