Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to perform vital responsibilities such as managing vital signs, conducting phlebotomy, and assisting with patient mobility. The role also involves running in-house diagnostic tests, managing administrative tasks, and providing high-end, patient-focused hospitality.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Perform vital signs, height, weight, and initial screening procedures, documenting all findings in the electronic medical record system.
- Perform phlebotomy, blood sampling, and proper specimen collection.
- Run in-house diagnostic and point-of-care laboratory tests following standard operating protocols, manufacturer guidelines, and proper labeling procedures.
- Manage patient check-in, registration, phone triage, medical record updates, and general administrative front desk coverage.
- Assist clinical team with patient mobility, transferring, and proper body mechanic lifting techniques when needed.
- Apply basic wound care dressings and support minor clinical procedures under the direction of the supervising provider.
- Communicate pertinent patient status observations and clinical updates to the healthcare team.
- Provide high-end, patient-focused concierge hospitality, ensuring patient comfort and handling inquiries with professional care.
- Participate actively as a clinical team member during emergency care situations under supervisory direction.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) AND one of the following active state/licensed pathways:
- California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Certified / Trained Medical Assistant (MA)
- EMT Certification
- Completion of 2+ years of active clinical coursework toward an RN, ACP, or MD
Qualifications
- Phlebotomy, blood sampling, specimen collection, and proper handling.
- Point-of-care (POC) laboratory testing, basic wound dressing, and assisting with medical procedures.
- Vital signs, height/weight measurement, initial screening, and applying proper body mechanics for patient lifting and transferring.
- Electronic Health Records (EHR) entry and navigation, front-desk intake, patient check-in, and phone coverage.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on familiarity with AthenaHealth software.
- 1–3 years of prior hands-on clinical experience.
- Prior experience in high-touch, concierge, urgent care, or emergency clinical environments.
- Multitasking and rapid priority management in high-acuity/fast-paced workflows.
Schedule / Shift
Part-Time (2 shifts per week) - Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (11P - 7A)
