Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Patient Service Representative responsible for assisting with front desk operations in a healthcare setting. The primary goal of this position is to ensure efficient patient check-in/check-out, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and provide exemplary customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Register, check in, and check out patients while verifying demographics, insurance, and patient information.
- Collect copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and other patient balances; explain financial responsibilities and assistance options.
- Schedule new, follow-up, lab, and study appointments accurately and efficiently.
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, referrals, authorizations, and required documentation.
- Resolve registration, billing, referral, and order issues within work queues.
- Review and update patient information in the electronic medical record (EHR).
- Provide patients with pre-visit instructions, directions, and other appointment-related information.
- Promote MyChart enrollment and assist patients with required forms and questionnaires.
- Answer incoming calls and direct patients to the appropriate resources or departments.
- Communicate wait times, address patient concerns, and provide excellent customer service.
- Scan and upload outside records and documents into the medical record.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA, Joint Commission, and other compliance standards.
- Balance daily cash, check, and credit card transactions and follow cash-handling procedures.
- Support clinic workflow, patient safety, quality initiatives, and process improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with clinical staff and team members to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Participate in required training, staff meetings, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3 years of front desk experience in healthcare.
- EPIC experience is preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:45pm shift work.
