About the Role
Are you a seasoned, confident GE MRI Technologist looking for a lucrative travel assignment, state-of-the-art equipment, and a close-knit team culture that values transparency and a sense of humor?
We are seeking a skilled Travel MRI Technologist to join our dynamic team at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL. In this role, you will perform high-quality diagnostic MRI procedures on both inpatient and outpatient populations using upgraded 1.5T and 3T GE scanners. Working alongside a supportive team of 10 technologists, you will manage a fast-paced workflow including advanced neuro, MSK, and specialized body imaging. Located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, this position offers the chance to step into a supportive, family-like hospital environment and hit the ground running.
Key Responsibilities
- Specialized Scanning & Protocols: Perform complex diagnostic MRI procedures, including MRAs, peripheral runoffs, breast imaging, spine/brain radiation planning, and body/rectal/vaginal cancer staging (including gel insertion sequences).
- Safety & Screening: Rigorously verify patient implant safety information and pull/review screening forms prior to initiating scans.
- Equipment Operation & Workflow: Expertly operate two upgraded GE MRI systems (1.5T and 3T with near-current software) to manage a volume of ~40 cases/day across scanners.
- Patient Care & Ergonomics: Position, transfer, and safely lift patients independently (ability to push, pull, lift 50 lbs; Maxi Air / hover mats available).
- Professionalism & Teamwork: Independently manage solo evening and weekend shifts, communicate seamlessly with nurses and physicians, and proactively solve clinical issues before escalating to leadership.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Setting: Hospital / Inpatient & Outpatient Center in New Lenox, IL.
- Hours & Shift Structure: 40 hours per week. Monday – Friday: 6:00 PM – 2:30 AM. Rotating Weekends: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM.
- Work-Life Balance: Predictable shift schedule with zero on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications & Skills Required
- Education & Certifications: Active ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required; current BLS (AHA) required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hospital-based MRI experience, with at least 2 years of direct experience operating upgraded GE equipment (must require $\le$ 1 week of scanner orientation).
- Preferred Skills: Proficiency in advanced imaging procedures (MRAs, runoffs, breast imaging, and body/rectal staging).
- Soft Skills: High clinical confidence, ability to work independently without hand-holding, strong proactive problem-solving, and a team-oriented, adaptable personality.
