Job Summary
Our client is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician responsible for documentation, patient interaction, and clinic flow success. This role requires good judgment in coordinating practice activities for optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient information, record medical history, and confirm the purpose of the visit.
- Perform patient work-up based on chief complaint and patient history using clinical instruments with precision.
- Secure patient information and maintain confidentiality by completing diagnostic and procedure coding.
- Counsel patients regarding physician's orders, medication use, and surgical inquiries.
- Assist with in-office procedures including laser surgeries and ocular injections.
- Maintain equipment by following operating instructions and performing preventive maintenance.
- Prepare patients for examination by dilating pupils and recording visual acuity changes.
- Conduct various ophthalmic tests such as visual fields, angiography, and OCT testing.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and company regulations.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or Bachelor’s Degree.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Medical Scribe (COS), or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical group practice and clinical ophthalmology is preferred.
- Understanding of medical terminology is required.
- Travel required and must have flexible hours (early mornings/late evenings).
Skills
- Knowledge of multi-physician practice operations, HIPAA, Compliance, and OSHA regulations.
- Proficiency in EMR, and ancillary testing equipment computer programs.
- Strong initiative, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
Additional Requirements
- Must possess a Certified Patient Service Specialist (CPSS) certification within 6 months of hire.
- OSHA and HIPAA training certification required every 12 months.
