Job Summary

The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, obtaining benefit information, and ensuring accurate insurance data is entered into the system prior to services being rendered. This role helps facilitate efficient billing processes, minimizes claim denials, and supports a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits through payer portals, phone calls, and electronic verification systems.
• Confirm coverage details including copays, deductibles, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums, and authorization requirements.
• Accurately document insurance information and verification results in the electronic medical record (EMR) or practice management system.
• Identify and resolve insurance discrepancies prior to patient appointments or procedures.
• Communicate benefit and financial responsibility information to patients when required.
• Obtain and track prior authorizations and referrals as needed.
• Collaborate with scheduling, registration, billing, and clinical teams to ensure accurate patient information.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies regarding patient confidentiality.
• Assist with claim denial prevention efforts by ensuring insurance information is current and accurate.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience
• Pre-authorizations/determinations experience
• Knowledge of all insurance providers, including Medicaid

Skills

• Bilingual (preferred)
• Experience verifying in-office procedures (highly preferred)
• Extensive knowledge of claims and denials
• Billing experience

M-F, 8am-5pm
