Registered Nurse – Primary Care

Location: Long Beach, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Setting: Onsite

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide clinical support in a primary care setting. The RN will work closely with medical providers and clinical staff to ensure patients receive timely, high-quality care. This position will support patient triage, immunizations, health education, chronic disease management, medication-related care, referrals, and other clinical needs.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years of nursing experience with a background in outpatient/primary care, emergency department, ICU/critical care, or a similar clinical environment. Experience working with LGBTQ+ and/or HIV populations is preferred, and candidates should be comfortable providing compassionate, inclusive care to these patient populations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support to medical providers before and after primary care visits to facilitate timely, quality patient care.
• Coordinate with Medical Assistants to ensure specialty referrals are completed in a timely manner and patients are able to follow through with recommended care.
• Provide treatment for patients diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections (STIs) according to established clinical guidelines.
• Administer vaccines in accordance with clinical guidelines.
• Provide and accurately document patient health education.
• Triage patients who walk into the clinic or call with acute medical concerns.
• Review patient medical records and assist with determining appropriate follow-up for patients who arrive late or need to reschedule appointments.
• Support front office staff with appropriate scheduling and patient care arrangements.
• Provide supervision, guidance, and clinical support to LVNs and Medical Assistants.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including data analysis, outcome measurement, documentation, and reporting.
• Participate in chronic disease management for patients with specialized or complex needs.
• Assist with the clinic's transition toward a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model.
• Maintain adequate clinical supplies and medications by monitoring inventory and ordering supplies as needed.
• Ensure examination rooms are properly stocked, organized, and prepared for patient care.
• Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and clients in English; Spanish is preferred.
• Perform other clinical duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• 3–5+ years of professional nursing experience preferred.
• Experience in at least one of the following environments:
  • Direct outpatient/primary care
  • Emergency Department (ER)
  • ICU or other critical care setting
  • Primary care with experience in immunizations, triage, and medication administration
• Strong clinical assessment, triage, and patient-care skills.
• Comfortable working with LGBTQ+ and HIV-positive patient populations.
• LGBTQ+/HIV healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
• Bilingual Spanish is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with providers, MAs, LVNs, and other clinical staff.

Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Onsite | Long Beach, CA

The primary work location is in Long Beach. Due to potential temporary building closures related to renovations, the employee may occasionally be asked to work at another available clinic location. Mileage reimbursement may be available when travel between sites is required during a shift. If an alternate site is unavailable during a closure, the schedule may potentially be adjusted.
