Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Principal Investigator to oversee the clinical safety of patients participating in clinical trials. The role involves collecting and recording precise clinical data while ensuring that the subjects' well-being and interests are protected. The Principal Investigator provides essential clinical support to the clinical research coordinators, principal investigators, and other clinical trials staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a study team to execute clinical trials.
- Mentor and train staff in clinical trial conduct, communication, and trial management skills.
- Create training strategies and mitigation plans.
- Conduct and manage clinical trials following study protocols, GCP, ICH Guidelines, and internal SOPs.
- Manage risk and improve quality in clinical research studies using project management concepts.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with various stakeholders including coworkers, study subjects, sponsors, CROs, and vendors.
- Ensure good documentation practices and maintain data confidentiality.
- Develop communication and escalation strategies to ensure patient safety and reporting standards are met.
- Evaluate potential clinical trial participants and incorporate effective recruitment strategies.
- Perform clinical duties such as drug preparation, fibroscan, phlebotomy, and ECG within scope.
Qualifications
- Must be a licensed MD, DO, NP, or PA in the state of practice.
- Required to undertake training and certification needed to conduct clinical trials.
- Must handle data and records with privacy and confidentiality as per HIPAA regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork, cooperation, and maintain professionalism and integrity.
- Effective communication skills in English (verbal and written).
Experience
- 5+ years of clinical experience or equivalent experience in the clinical research industry.
- Experience with at least 8-10 clinical trials.
- Preferred background in internal medicine, ER, family medicine, or other therapeutic areas.
Skills
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
- Competency in clinical trial management and project management concepts.
- Proficient in maintaining confidentiality and good documentation practices.
- Ability to effectively communicate and ensure professionalism within a team and with external entities.
