Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Billing Manager to lead a dedicated team in their RCM hub, overseeing the full billing lifecycle for specific emergency and non-emergency medical transport markets. This role extends beyond production to act as a leadership effort for "people transformation." As a Billing Manager, you will coach and develop approximately 20 specialists, ensuring precision and compassion in handling every claim. The role involves optimizing revenue, improving cash flow, and facilitating the financial journey for patients during their most vulnerable moments.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct a team of billing specialists, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and collaboration.
- Manage daily billing workflows, including documentation review, coding, and claim submission to ensure efficiency and First Pass Accuracy.
- Monitor critical KPIs such as backlog volume, turnaround time, and coding quality, intervening to maintain peak performance.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and partner with the Support & Transformation team to implement automated workflows and standardized practices.
- Drive clean-claim rates and insurance discovery initiatives to prevent revenue leakage and ensure full capture of billable services.
- Work cross-functionally with Insurance Relations, Patient Experience, and Operations to resolve denial patterns and improve the RCM roadmap.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA, CMS guidelines, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, and internal policy frameworks.
Qualifications
- Proven background in Revenue Cycle Management, medical billing, or healthcare operations within a high-volume, process-heavy environment.
- Previous experience in a formal people-management role or as a strong informal lead.
- Hands-on experience with billing platforms and various payor portals.
- Ability to interpret dashboards and use data to manage daily staffing, queues, and productivity.
- Specific experience with 911 or IFT billing and documentation requirements is preferred.
- Familiarity with integrating new technology or "smart" tools into manual billing environments is preferred.
Additional Requirements
Full-time position with flexibility required to support varied shifts, including weekends or holidays, to meet month-end or critical project needs.
