Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Patient Service Representative to join their team. This cross-functional role is critical in supporting various aspects of Patient Access, with a strong focus on scheduling for clinics, specialty, and primary care. The role includes managing patient scheduling, registration, referrals, and maintaining professionalism while handling a high volume of calls and appointments.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule appointments for specialty and primary care clinics, predominantly through phone-based interactions.
- Perform pre-registration and/or emergency department/outpatient registration duties, which may involve face-to-face interactions.
- Coordinate referrals as needed, although this is not a specific requirement.
- Manage a high volume of calls and appointments (approximately 30-40 per day) while maintaining a professional demeanor and providing excellent customer service.
- Complete a 4-week training program, including 2 weeks of formal training and 2 weeks of supervised on-the-floor training.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience in patient services or patient access, with a strong preference for healthcare experience.
- Proven customer service experience, preferably in a call center or physician's office.
- Excellent speaking and communication skills with a clear and professional phone demeanor.
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to handle fast-paced environments and high call volumes.
Experience
2+ years of professional experience in patient services or patient access, with healthcare experience highly preferred.
Skills
- Technical proficiency in customer service settings.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and customer service skills.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work standard business hours (8 AM to 5 PM) with potential flexibility for a mid-shift (10 AM to 7 PM) for the emergency department schedule.
