Job Summary
Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Ophthalmic Technician to join their outpatient clinic team. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on ophthalmic experience who are passionate about patient care and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment. No certification or license is required; however, prior ophthalmic technician experience is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary patient workups, including medical history, visual acuity, and chief complaint documentation.
- Conduct diagnostic testing such as OCT, visual fields, tonometry, pachymetry, and lensometry.
- Assist physicians with eye examinations, procedures, and minor in-office treatments.
- Administer eye drops and prepare patients for dilation.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Clean, calibrate, and maintain ophthalmic equipment.
- Educate patients on procedures, medications, and post-visit care instructions.
- Ensure clinic flow runs efficiently while maintaining high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
- Prior experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in an ophthalmology clinic.
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic terminology and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a busy outpatient setting.
- Excellent communication and patient service skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience within the last 12 months in an ophthalmology clinic.
Skills
- Ophthalmic tech experience, preferably in an outpatient setting.
- Proficiency with EMR systems preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Float between Manhattan locations.
