Medical Accounts Receivable (A/R) Representative

Medix is partnering with a growing healthcare technology organization to hire experienced Medical Accounts Receivable Representatives supporting behavioral health/mental health and ophthalmology practices.
This role is focused on insurance follow-up, denial resolution, and recovering unpaid or underpaid claims. We're looking for experienced A/R professionals who can independently research claim issues, communicate with payers, and drive accounts through resolution.
What You'll Do
- Manage assigned insurance A/R and resolve unpaid or underpaid claims
- Follow up with commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers by phone and payer portal
- Research denials, rejections, claim status, and reimbursement issues
- Submit corrected claims, appeals, reconsiderations, and supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate account notes and document all follow-up activity
- Prioritize A/R work queues and meet productivity and quality expectations
- Escalate complex reimbursement issues when necessary
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of medical billing, insurance A/R, denial management, or revenue cycle experience
- Experience working physician/provider-side accounts receivable
- Hands-on experience resolving unpaid and denied insurance claims
- Knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare, and/or Medicaid
- Experience with EMR/EHR or practice management systems
- Strong research, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
Highly Preferred
- Ophthalmology or optometry billing and A/R experience
- Experience with specialty physician practices
- Familiarity with systems such as Athenahealth, Epic, NextGen, ModMed, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms

Travel
This is a fully remote position. Employees may be asked to travel to the New York City office approximately once per year, with company-required travel expenses covered.
