Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Mental Health Accounts Receivable Analyst responsible for managing accounts receivable by researching and resolving unpaid or underpaid insurance claims. The role involves contacting commercial and government payers to resolve reimbursement issues and maintain accurate documentation within billing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned accounts receivable and resolve insurance claims issues.
- Contact payers to obtain claim status and resolve issues.
- Submit corrected claims and supporting documentation as needed.
- Investigate claim denials and develop resolution strategies.
- Maintain documentation of account activity within billing systems.
- Utilize practice management systems for daily work priorities.
- Assist with payment posting research and insurance follow-up.
- Escalate complex issues to leadership or internal departments.
- Support process improvement initiatives for billing operations.
- Adapt to changing priorities and assist with revenue cycle projects.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, or insurance follow-up within a healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of the healthcare revenue cycle and reimbursement processes.
- Experience with electronic health records or practice management systems.
- Familiarity with commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payer guidelines.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Experience
- 1–3 years in medical billing, accounts receivable, or insurance follow-up within a healthcare environment.
- Experience with electronic health records/practice management systems.
Skills
- Proficiency in electronic health records and practice management systems such as Athenahealth, NextGen, and Epic.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to new technology.
Schedule/Shift
M-F, 9-6
