Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Temporary Mental Health Counselor to provide school-based counseling services that promote students' emotional, behavioral, and social well-being. Services are delivered using trauma-informed, strength-based, and positive youth development approaches to support students' success at school, home, and in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual, group, and crisis counseling to students.
- Conduct assessments, risk screenings, and treatment planning.
- Teach coping, emotional regulation, and social-emotional skills.
- Provide prevention education on topics such as bullying, violence, depression, suicide prevention, and healthy relationships.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Participate in case reviews, staff meetings, and required trainings.
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and community agencies.
- Refer students to appropriate community resources when needed.
- Maintain supportive and professional relationships with students and school personnel.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) or Counseling.
- Ability to speak and understand Spanish is required.
- Experience in counseling, social work, psychology, or school-based mental health preferred.
- Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and Trauma-Focused CBT.
- Experience with crisis intervention, risk assessment, and case management.
- Ability to facilitate workshops and group presentations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual learning platforms preferred.
