Job Description
Medix is seeking a dedicated Travel Pharmacist to partner with top-tier hospital facilities in Wisconsin. In this role, you will work through Medix to provide critical clinical and operational support to our healthcare client's pharmacy department.
We are looking for a versatile clinician capable of supporting direct patient care across multiple specialized units, including Emergency Department (ED), Critical Care, and NICU coverage. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment, excels at clinical consultation, and is comfortable participating in code responses.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform core inpatient pharmacy operations, including order verification, script fills, cart refills, and medication preparation.
- Conduct sterile and non-sterile compounding, including potential bedside compounding in the Emergency Department.
- Provide extensive clinical consultations across ED, Critical Care units, and the NICU.
- Participate active in hospital code coverage as a vital member of the code response team.
- Utilize health system technology including Cerner EMR, Pyxis, and Omnicell automated dispensing systems.
- Collaborate effectively with on-site pharmacy technicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams (staffing support varies by site, ranging from working alongside dedicated tech staff to handling sole overnight coverage depending on location).
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required.
- Licensure: Current, active Wisconsin Pharmacist License.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred upon hire; facility willing to train qualified clinicians due to code team participation requirements.
- Experience: Previous hospital, acute care, or critical care pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
- Strong professional accountability, clinical judgment, and communication skills
