Overview:

As a Patient A/R Specialist, you will act as the primary resource for patients navigating questions about their account balances. In this billing-focused customer service role, you’ll leverage your problem-solving skills to investigate why balances remain outstanding or why claims may not have been processed correctly. This is essentially a Billing Customer Service Representative position, handling a high volume of patient interactions—approximately 300 calls per week (around 60 per day).

Responsibilities

• Contact patients and respond to inbound calls to resolve account questions and outstanding balances

• Ensure patient statements are accurate and sent out daily

• Manage accounts requiring external collections after internal collection efforts have been completed

• Collect patient payments over the phone and set up payment arrangements as needed

• Research account discrepancies, prepare patient credits, and coordinate approved refunds with accounting

• Process bankruptcy notices in line with company policies

• Update patient demographic information as needed to ensure statements are accurate

Required Skills

• 2+ years of Patient Collections or Medical Billing CSR experience

• Working Knowledge of EOB's

• EMR experience (NextGen preferred)

• Customer Service Oriented

• Computer literacy- able to work through multiple software's and have multiple screens open at one time

• High school diploma or GED

 Preferred Skills

• NextGen experience

• Ophthalmology experience

• Bilingual in Spanish

Schedule/Shift

They take calls in all time zones so need to be available within the following shift windows:

• March 8, 2026 to October 31, 2026: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

• November 1, 2026 to March 14, 2027: Any shift between Monday-Friday, 7am-6:15pm Newer employees usually get the later shifts so please make sure your candidates could work ANY of these shifts.
