Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Financial Counselor to assist patients in identifying and applying for financial assistance programs. The primary responsibilities include interviewing patients, managing applications, and maintaining accurate records in the EPIC electronic health record system.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct bedside screenings to determine patient eligibility for various financial assistance programs.
- Screen for multiple benefit types, such as Emergency Medicaid, ADD, Plan A, and Institutional Medicaid.
- Complete applications for NJ FamilyCare and other programs, and gather necessary patient documentation.
- Accurately upload applications and documentation into EPIC electronic health records.
- Participate in mandatory online training for Presumptive Eligibility (PE) and manage case files independently.
Qualifications
- Bilingual fluency in English and either Spanish or Portuguese.
- Flexibility to work rotating weekend shifts and designated holidays.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new hospital software quickly.
- Ability to work within specialized cultures and sensitive patient demographics.
Skills
- Computer proficiency, particularly with hospital software platforms.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Experience
- Prior experience with NJ FamilyCare, Medicaid enrollment, or hospital Charity Care programs is preferred.
- Experience using the EPIC electronic health record system.
- Certified Presumptive Eligibility (PE) screener status is a plus.
Schedule/Shift
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with rotating weekend shifts.

Required Employment / Compliance Language
This position requires flexibility with schedules, including rotating weekends and holidays. Eligibility for benefits is based on verifying an average of 30 hours per week during the initial 4 weeks of the work assignment.
