Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Document Imaging Specialist to support various Health Information Management (HIM) functions. The primary responsibilities include document imaging, data integrity, managing birth registry, handling deficiency management, and processing release of information.
Key Responsibilities
- Support multiple HIM functions, including document imaging, data integrity, birth registry, deficiency management, and release of information.
- Process, scan, index, validate, and maintain patient records with a high level of accuracy and quality.
- Perform patient demographic and encounter validation and complete approved record updates and chart corrections.
- Monitor record accuracy by identifying and resolving duplicate records, overlays, and documentation discrepancies.
- Review, route, and manage incoming health information from internal and external sources.
- Analyze medical records for completeness and assign documentation deficiencies for provider completion in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Collect, verify, and enter required birth registration information while meeting state reporting deadlines.
- Process medical record requests by verifying authorization, protecting patient privacy, and releasing only the minimum necessary information.
- Retrieve records from electronic and archived systems, prepare documentation for release, and maintain accurate request tracking.
- Prioritize and manage work queues to meet productivity, quality, and turnaround expectations.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state privacy regulations and organizational policies related to protected health information.
- Document work accurately, escalate discrepancies or exceptions as needed, and support continuous workflow improvement.
- Provide professional customer service to patients, providers, and internal departments while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist with onboarding and training team members and continue developing knowledge across all HIM functions.
